In this episode of Parenting with Truth and Grace we interview Amy Porterfield. Amy is the host of the wildly successful podcast Online Marketing Made Easy. She’s an expert on online marketing and is well known for her knowledge and teaching in the world of Facebook Marketing. Amy is also a wife and step mother to 13 year old Cade. You are going to love hearing her share about her parenting journey. If you’ve ever wanted to find a way to tap into the online world in order to help with the family budget or even allow yourself to be home full time, then you will not want to miss the advice she gives at the end.
Amy share’s an experience that we’re sure others have gone through. After volunteering to work in her son’s classroom one day, she arrived with high expectations of his reactions. She was disappointed when Cade’s response wasn’t what she remembered her response was like when her own mother came to school. Amy’s story reminds us of how unmet expectations can easily derail our parenting if we let it.
Parenting Ah-ha Moment
Amy’s ah-ha moment came during a conversation with her mother. It took mom to remind her that Amy’s relationship with her mother is like Cade’s relationship with his biological mother. Amy’s relationship with Cade could certainly be wonderful and rich, but it would be different.
Proudest Parenting Moment
Because Amy is a successful entrepreneur she often has these big online business launches. With each launch she puts together a team of people to take care of the different aspects of the launch. Before her last launch, her son Cade asked if he could help. Because he is really good at math, she gave Cade the role of Financial Launch Manager. He did a fantastic job and it really turned into a family affair.
