Parenting Tip of the Week: Set down your phone.
Try something different this week with your phone and devices. Start small, but make one intentional change. If you don’t know where to begin, try this… right after dinner, hook your phone up to the charger for two hours and engage with your kids. If two hours is too much, then start with one. If you have teenagers, get their buy-in and do it as a family. Check out this article by Linda Stone: If Kids Made the Rules…
Parenting Resource of the Week: Screens and Teens
Kathy Koch in her book, Screens and Teens deals primarily with the dynamic of technology and our teenagers, but she is a wealth of information for all parents. Technology is here to stay and in fact, is only going to increase in intensity. It isn’t helpful to think that we can wish it away. Rather, we need to stay diligent in our understanding and consideration of how we are going to interact with it and our kids. Here’s the LINK.

Best Parenting Advice
Be present. When she sets down the distractions (phone, computers), she’s a better parent.
One thing they would do differently
To have different expectations… not so unrealistic.
Top 3 Priorities for parenting
1) Raise kids who know they are loved by God and their parents unconditionally – their worth isn’t wrapped up in their performance. I love you up to the moon and back no matter what.
2) Raising kids that make a difference in the world. I see the world and the ugly things. But there are beautiful people doing great things.
3) Make our family home a safe place. We want our home to be an environment people are drawn to.
