How would you score your life?

David – back in his playing days

I tend to use football as an analogy for everything. This past weekend was rival weekend in college football. We won’t talk about my school, since we got blasted by our rivals! But one particular game caught the eye of more TV fans than any noon game in history.

The amazing part was, this game did not disappoint. The storied rivalry between Ohio State University and the University of Michigan added another chapter as the #2 team in the nation squared off against #3. A classic for the ages ensued as Ohio State won in double overtime!

But here’s the thing. Both teams played well enough to win. But the way football almost always works (as opposed to another sport which I won’t mention), one team wins and one team loses. Even though there were some controversial calls, at the end of the game, everyone knows the score on the score board is the final factor.

Say whatever you want… root for whoever you please… but when the game was over, the scoreboard declared Ohio State 30 – Michigan 27. That was the score! Very cut and dry.

Life isn’t always so cut and dry. There isn’t a scoreboard that follows us around during the day, tallying points as we live our life. Ding, ding, ding… 3 points for taking out the garbage… 2 points for filling up the car… 7 points for closing the deal at work… 6 points for praying with your wife on the way out the door.

Sure, some use net worth as a scorecard of sorts. But even then, what constitutes victory? After all, you can always make more money! So, if you were going to give yourself a score right now… what would it be?!

We’ve been talking about getting yourself and your family ready for 2017. Hopefully you already read the FREE eBook by Michael Hyatt, Achieve More in 2017, that we shared with you last week.

According to an all-star cast of high achievers, the first of eight strategies for achieving more in 2017 was to first reflect. Before we start dreaming about all that God is going to do in 2017, we must first consider 2016. We need to celebrate the victories and consider the lessons from our mistakes. How nice would it be, if we could just look up and see our score on the scoreboard?

Well now you can!

The Life Assessment

Michael Hyatt has provided another FREE tool in our quest to achieve more in 2017. It’s the online tool called the Life Assessment. Remember at Axis Ministries, we help people build the kinds of marriages and families they’ve always dreamed of having. That’s not going to happen if you don’t include those areas (marriage and family) into your plans for 2017.

The Life Assessment allows you to score yourself, taking into account all areas of your life! I just took it and it was easy and so informative. I already see how it’s going to influence my goal setting for this coming year. It’s online and takes less than 10 minutes.
